I’m sure you’ve seen the meme about banana bread…if not…

I must be the exception to this rule. As soon as we have over ripe bananas, either my daughter or I are making banana bread. It’s so good!!
We’ve used the same recipe for years. I’m not even sure where my my mom got it but it’s the best! Either my grandmother used this recipe or my aunt did. Needless to say it’s better than anything else I’ve tried and super easy to make. I making it today courtesy of the leftover bananas from the weekend.
Here’s the recipe:
1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup Crisco, 2 Eggs, 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/4 tsp salt, 3 over ripe bananas, 1 tsp vanilla
Beat together the sugar and crisco in a large bowl. Add in one egg at a time, mixing completely in between. In a separate small bowl mix together the flour, baking, soda and salt. Once combined, add half of the dry ingredients to the sugar mixture. Mix well, add the remaining half and mix again. Mash bananas and then mix into the batter. Once combined, stir in the vanilla. If you like, you can stir in either a 1/2 cup of nuts or chocolate chips.

Pour batter into a greased bread loaf pan. Place pan into preheated 350 degree oven. Bake for 35-45 minutes. I bake it for 30-35 minutes because we like it to be gooey.
Once done baking, let cool in pan for 5 minutes before putting on a serving platter.
