I’ve been obsessed with a skin care routine since high school. I’ve tried tons of products and through the years I didn’t deviate from my routine much. I was always a fan of Clearasil face wash with Seabreeze toner and either moisturizer from Neutrogena or Clinique. Then I hit 35.
None of those seemed to do the trick any more. As my skin aged it definitely needed something different. For over the past year I’ve been using Drunk Elephant. I think I picked it based on a recommendation at Sephora. (The irony isn’t lost on me that I picked a line with “drunk” in the name. 😉)
I use their Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser. I don’t like moisturizing or thick face washes as I have oily skin. This one doesn’t strip my skin and make it feel tight either. I wash my face with it both morning and night. At night, if I’ve had makeup on, I actually wash my face twice. A friend of mine gave me this trick. The first wash gets rid of the makeup & dirt and the second wash actually cleans the skin. I ended up with less breakouts when I started washing twice at night.
I also use their Protini Polypeptide Cream. I love this little powerhouse in a jar! It’s the perfect amount of moisture without making my skin oily or overly shiny. I love that I can mix it with my serums or use it on its own. It doesn’t clog my pores or feel heavy on my skin.
And lastly, I use their TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. For awhile, I was using this serum both day and night even though it’s a night serum. I love that it has salicylic acid in it to help keep the acne in check. It feels a little sticky going on but absorbs quickly. I feel like it’s helped to keep wrinkles in check and keeps my skins texture nice & smooth.
During the summer I added a vitamin C serum during the day (check out this past post to learn more A Bright Idea). It helps with brightness and tone. The only thing I’ve tried from Drunk Elephant I didn’t like is their vitamin C serum. Just didn’t do it for me.
Of course I use eye cream. Still obsessed with my Lancôme Absolue. Check this old post to learn more about it: Splurge vs Save: Eye Cream Edition.
I’ve been thinking about trying out cleansing oils. They seem interesting. Still reading and researching those. Another one I’m looking at is Bliss’s Clear Genius line. Any recommendations?
What’s your face routine? Anything you love for aging skin that’s still prone to breakouts?
Thanks for reading & responding!! ❤️ TC
