Thanks to my cousin, I had the best biscuits this weekend!! I’ve always been hesitant to make biscuits. I’m not sure why, but I felt like I would never get them right. Enter Britt & her recipe to save the day!
She sent me Sugar Spun Run’s recipe. I think her trick of grating the butter made it so much easier and less daunting for me. I was so afraid I’d make them and they’d be super lumpy and tough instead of light & flaky.
The trick to getting them flaky is cold butter that is cut into the dough in small pieces. I hate cutting butter into dough. I never get it small enough and then I end up over working the dough. This trick of freezing and grating the butter solved my issues.
I stuck the butter in the freezer for about an hour and then grated it straight into the flour and mixed with a spatula. Perfectly sized pieces of butter and I didn’t over work it!
The biscuits were wonderful!!! I will definitely make these again. The recipe was super easy & it didn’t require special ingredients. You can check out the full recipe here! I decided to use buttermilk, but I’m sure they’d be great with regular milk as well.
Do you prefer biscuits or rolls? Have you ever made them from scratch? Any baking hacks you recommend? Can’t wait to hear from you! Love, TC
