Venti Chai Tea Latte, please.

That’s my typical Starbucks order. Cold in the summer with one less pump and hot in the winter. I always joke that it tastes like Christmas in a cup. It’s the ducking best!!! It always makes me happy.

What doesn’t make me happy though are the freaking calories. 310 calories for one drink 😳. No bueno when you’re trying to lose weight.

I’ve been looking at recipes on line but haven’t found one that still didn’t have a ton of calories or didn’t require you to use chai tea. Today, one of the BeachBody coaches in my group posted a recipe for and Almond Milk Chai Latte. I just tried it and loved it!!

Recipe calls for 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 2 black tea bags, 3/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ginger, 1/8 tsp ground cloves, & 4-8 tsp honey. Basically you heat up the milk on the stove, steep the tea in it, and then add the rest of the ingredients, whisk and then serve.

I have to say, it was really good and was only 120 calories for the whole thing. Score!! I’m going to keep tweaking the recipe for my taste. I did you plain, unsweetened almond milk and added a little vanilla extract. I think next time I’ll skip the honey and use Truvia instead. I’m not a big honey fan and using Truvia will save me some additional calories. I’m probably going to play around with the spices too. I might use a little nutmeg and use less cloves.
